We just got back from our week long vacation at Dismal Lake. Every year we head up the river with Wade's parents for a week. It was a great time of relaxing and basking in God's perfect creation. This year, unlike previous years, we camped at a lake and didn't do much traveling; normally we four-wheel all over but because of Waylon we thought it would just be easier to stick to one spot. We weren't disappointed...it was beautiful!

Waylon did really well. He hung out in chairs, in his saucer, or was toted around by his Grammie or Papa. He didn't sleep very well because, I think, he was afraid he would miss something.
Wade and his dad enjoyed fishing in the lake. Last year we bought these pontoon boats and everyone loved rowing around. The lake is said to be 100 ft deep and the drop off is quite creepy. When you're on the boat you can see about 40ft from shore then its completely black and you can't see anything. Wade said when he was younger and they were camping there there was a diver who made it to 70ft but couldn't make it any deeper because it was so cold and black.
Micah was hilarious; he was so busy trying to see and experience everything he could while he was there. When he wasn't soaking wet from the lake, he was completely covered in mud because 1) he was soaking wet 2) he couldn't quite run down the hill like his sisters and would crash in the same spot every time.
Wade's sister and her family came up for 2 nights. It was fun to have more people around and to get to enjoy one another.

This was our visitor the last two evenings and mornings we were there. She would come eat and drink at the lake, then she would be gone. Although they are such powerful creatures, they are some of the goofiest looking things ever-God definitely has a sense of humor.
Wow, beautiful pictures! I love the floating log/garden. That's really neat. Looks like you guys had a great vacation!
